Get all the details on the Galentine’s Day Party I threw for my tween daughter and her friends.
I threw a Galentine’s Day party for my tween and her friends and it was so fun I wanted to share. I found some really cute Valentine’s Day party decorations and other goodies and the party ended up being so much fun. If you’re thinking about throwing a Galentine’s Day party, DO IT!
I’ve broken this post up into three sections: the decor, the activity and the food.
Let’s get into the nitty gritty!
Decor
Galentine’s Day Party Decor
- Checkered Fringe Party Backdrop
- Checkered Heart Shaped Plates
- Love Window Treat Box
- Mini Heart Shaped Bowls
- Bows and Hearts Scalloped Placemats
- Gauze Table Runner
- Plastic Tablecloth
- Balloons
- Balloon Strip
- Electric Party Balloon Pump
Some Things To Note:
All of the Valentine’s Day specific items are in the seasonal aisles at Hobby Lobby. They have so many cute things.
If you haven’t bought balloons at Hobby Lobby before, you are missing out. They’re a great price and they have awesome colors, kits and specialty shapes. They’re whole party section is elite.
If you want to be able to make balloon garlands on a whim, get yourself a balloon pump. They’re not that much money and they save you so much time (and lightheadedness).
The easiest way to make any sort of balloon arch or drape is to use balloon strip. It’s a clear plastic strip with little holes for you to slip the tied end of the balloon through.
I used Command Hooks and some matching twine to hang the garland on the wall over the fringe backdrop
Craft
Okay, now let’s get into the details of the craft we did. These charm style necklaces are all the rage right now, so I knew the girls would love to make them. I got everything on sale (woot!) and have a ton of charms left over to use for other crafts in the future.
Paper Clip Charm Necklace Craft Supplies Needed
- Paperclip Chain Necklace – 16″
- Jump Rings (these ones match the necklaces perfectly)
- Butterfly Charms
- Smiley Face Charms
- Daisy Charms
- Cowgirl Charms
- Tiny Flower Charms
- Mini Heart Charms
- Pearl Letter Pendants
- Jewelry Pliers
The necklaces are super simple to put together. Just use a jump ring to attach each charm to the necklace. The hardest part for the girls was choosing which charms they wanted to use! LOL. This craft took our group of 12 and 13 year olds about 45 minutes to complete.
And the girls absolutely LOVED having their initials on their necklaces. Don’t skip that one.
Food
The last detail from the party that I wanted to share was this amazingly cute treat box with the word “LOVE” inside.
Isn’t that SO FUN?! It’s really well built so I will definitely be saving it to use again next year. The girls raved about it. It’s so perfect for a party, but I can also see filling it with treats and giving it as a gift to someone. Like I said, the box is sturdy and has a magnetic latch, so you could tie a ribbon around it and it would be such a cute gift.
The girls made their necklaces, then ate snacks. Then they all went out for a dip in our hot tub and finished the night off watching a cute movie.
If judged by the decibel levels of the giggles and squeals, I’d say the evening was a smashing success.
