DIY Lip Valentines

These printable lip Valentines cards have a clever design… the lips slide together to form the perfect loop to hold a tube of lip balm!

Hi there! I’ve got a clever and adorable DIY printable Valentine’s Day card for you today. These lip themed cards are so much fun and all you need is the file below, a pair of scissors and some chapstick!

You know I love a good pun, so naturally these lip valentines say, “Pucker Up, Valentine!” and “XOXO” and “S.W.A.K.” and “Hugs & Kisses.”

But the best part is that the lips are designed so that they form the perfect little loop on the back to hold a tube of lip balm. Isn’t that just so clever?! I am tickled with how these turned out. Let me show you how to make them!

I will explain every step, but this makes a whole lot more sense when you see it in action, so I suggest scrolling down to the bottom and watching the short video tutorial.

The first step is to snag the file at the bottom of this post and print it onto cardstock. I have included a PDF file for printing and an SVG file so that if you have a Silhouette or Cricut machine, you can have the machine cut it out for you. Both files are in the same folder, so be sure to check you are downloading the version you actually want.

Cut around the lips and the light pink square in the middle (or print and cut with your electronic cutting machine).

Then carefully cut two slits. On the top of the square, cut halfway across the left side. Then cut halfway across on right side on the bottom of the square, like this:

Now grab your tube of chapstick and roll it around the blank center for a minute to help the paper form a smooth loop.

Then carefully bend the two lip pieces until you can get the slits to slide into each other.

Once your lips are lined up on the front, you’ll have a tube shape on the back that is the perfect size for a standard chapstick. Yay! Isn’t that fun?!

I suggest adding a little glue dot inside the loop before sealing up the lips to help the lip balm stay in place. And don’t forget to fill in the “to” and “from” sections before you assemble. It’s much easier to write on the paper when it’s still flat.
