How to Make A Grinch Hand Christmas Decoration

Make a cute Christmas door hanger decoration that looks like The Grinch’s hand reaching down to pick up a Christmas ornament.

Are you a big fan of The Grinch? Today’s Christmas craft is for you! I’m going to show you how to make the cutest door hanger DIY holiday decoration that looks like The Grinch’s hand reaching down to pick up a red ornament.

It’s an iconic moment in the movie and makes for such a fun holiday decor piece. And bonus… it’s super quick and easy to make. You can have your very own Grinch decoration in less than an hour!

Materials Needed

  • Candy Cane Wire Frame
  • Green Stretch Gloves (the color I used is “iced pear”)
  • Poly-Fil (Stuffing)
  • Jumbo Red Yarn or Wide Red Ribbon
  • One Small Scrap of Red Ribbon (for hanging)
  • White Fur Trim
  • Red Christmas Ornament
  • Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks

Instructions

Step 1: Glue the end of the yarn to one end of the candy cane form, then begin wrapping it around the form until the whole thing is covered. Use hot glue to tack the yarn in place as needed.

Step 2: Stuff one of the green gloves with fiber fill until it looks like a hand is inside the glove. I started with each finger so I could make sure the stuffing went all the way to the ends of each finger.

Step 3: Glue the thumb and pointer finger to the top of a red Christmas ornament. Look at your own hand as a reference to get the placement right.

Step 4: Shove part of the glove cuff into the crook end of the candy cane form and once you’re happy with the look of it, glue it in place.

Step 5: Cut a piece of white faux fur trim to fit all the way around the cuff and glue it down.

Step 6: Add a little ribbon loop at the top for easy hanging. I just scooched the yarn aside and tied mine directly to the metal form, then pushed the yarn back into place around the ribbon.

And that’s all it takes! Now you have this super fun DIY Grinch decoration that will make you smile all season long.

I’m hanging mine on my front door, but you can use it on your Christmas tree or as a wall hanging or on a holiday mantel. So many possibilities!
