Make miniature Halloween storefronts out of wooden craft sticks. This is a fun, cute and easy Halloween craft idea.
If you’ve been around The Craft Patch for a while, you know of my deep love for popsicle stick crafts, miniature anything and especially shops and stores. Last year I made miniature Christmas market booths out of popsicle sticks and I loved them so much that I decided we also needed to make some storefronts for Halloween.
So grab your popsicle sticks and glue gun and let’s get crafty!
Materials Needed
- Regular Sized Wooden Craft Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun + Glue
- Craft Paint
- Paint Pens
- Scrap Cardstock
- Bits and Bobs – assorted little accessories to decorate with
Instructions
Step 1: Glue four popsicle sticks into a square shape, then add three more sticks stacked on top of each other to the bottom, like this:
Step 2: Cut the rounded ends off of six sticks so that you have twelve little rounded nubby pieces.
Step 3: Line all of those stick ends up along the top popsicle stick to form an awning for your little Halloween store. Glue them down with hot glue.
Step 4: Paint the whole thing with craft paint. If you have little ones doing this craft, you can also color the sticks with colored pencils or washable markers to minimize the mess.
Step 5: Add any small details with paint pens.
Step 6: Now comes the best part… it’s time to accessorize!
I made a miniature broom out of a small wood dowel and some twine. I also cut a ghost character out of white cardstock and drew on some eyes with a black pen. Then I got ambitious and created a whole bunch of characters on the computer, printed them and then cut them out with my Silhouette machine. If you’re interested in those designs too, I can share them.
This step is where all the magic happens. Make little signs for each store, add cute details and bows and banners and whatever else you can dream up. I just dug through my craft supplies until I saw little doodads that sparked my imagination and it was so fun!
Here are a few store name ideas to get you brainstorming.
- The Candy Cauldron
- Witches Brew Potions
- Ghostly Goodies
- Spook Shoppe
- The Friendly Ghost Co.
- Tombstone Trinkets
- Haunted Home Goods
- Ghoul’s Garage
- Hocus Pocus Broom Shop
- Candy Corn Corner
- The Cobweb Cottage
- Monster Market
- Trick or Treat Trading Post
- Dracula Depot
And here are my finished Halloween storefronts. Aren’t they just so stinkin’ cute?!
Please notice the tiny potion bottles made of beads, the mini candies that I had left from making this gingerbread house craft and the tiered pink cake made from craft foam. I die from the cuteness.

So there you go… a cute, cheap and fun Halloween craft idea using wooden craft sticks. Tons of creative possibility. I’m going to use mine as fridge magnets, but they make great shelf sitters as well. And remember sometimes the process is as important as the final product and let me tell you, these brought me SO MUCH JOY. I hope you love them too. Happy crafting!
