  • leaves: leathery evergreens work the best, such as Southern Magnolia, Holly, Bay, etc. And pine cones: make sure any little critters in there are safely moved out!
  • hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
  • optional: craft paints, preferably non toxic like these, so our flowers can be returned to the soil when it’s time for new decorations!
  • thin threads, strings, or clear fishing lines to hang the flowers

Step one: make giant flowers pinecone decorations

Let’s look at how to make flowers without paint first: take a pine cone, and start gluing leaves  to the scales.  The spiral pattern makes the perfect guide to glue our “flower petals” around this pine cone center.

Wait till the paint dries, and glue the elements like in step one above. You can even make ombre flower petals. The possibilities are endless!

I think the gold and silver flowers are perfect pinecone decorations for Christmas and New Year, with their elegant winter vibes!

The pink flowers would be beautiful as early spring decorations before all the real flowers arrive.
